Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resources
When a loved one receives the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease or has another form of dementia, the news is overwhelming. First, the patient must deal with major life changes, but as the dementia progresses, the immense burden on the family member(s) becomes all consuming. Therefore, we believe that all families affected by dementia need to be supported and given the opportunity for respite (a break). Our home care practice focuses on 3 main criteria:
- Tailoring the home environment to maximize the diagnosed person’s independence
- Working with the families to reduce stress, anxiety, and guilt
- Creating teamwork among family members, healthcare practitioners and additional caregivers
