July 23, 2013 –Tampa Bay, Florida — Mario Barlaan of Bayshore Home Care was selected as the 2013 recipient of the The Home Care Association of Florida Excellence in Home Care award in the paraprofessional category. This is a tremendous honor for Mario as there is only one recipient in this category for the entire state.
This award is presented each year to a caregiver who has exemplified a dedication to quality care through:

- Professionalism in dealing with difficult situations

In his decade of service to Bayshore Home Care as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), his coworkers and clients have continually praised Mario for his positive attitude. One of his colleagues, Jasmin Perez shared, “When I see his face I can’t help but just smile. He is so genuine.” Mario’s clients have described him as friendly, compassionate and up for a challenge. Bayshore truly has a gem in Mario. The award was presented to Mario at the Home Care Association’s annual conference in Orlando on Tuesday, July 23rd.
Being a caregiver in a home setting often means being a surrogate family member plus some; taking care of the daily care needs of his clients is often a thankless job and for a professional like Mario, praise is not what drives this man. He has a heart for seniors and strives to brighten the days of his clients. Mario has succeeded at his job and in life. He is truly a hero in our community.
