General Home Safety Tips

  • Always use your walking aid.
  • Get up slowly after sitting or lying down to make sure you have your balance.
  • Avoid standing on ladders or chairs.
  • Change fire detector batteries once a year (on your birthday).
  • Remove rugs that can be tripped over and cause a fall.

Kitchen Safety

  • Mark “on” and “off” positions on appliances clearly and with bright colors.
  • Store heavier objects at waist level.
  • Avoid wearing loose clothing when using the stove.
